  • Matteo: Ciao Luca! Scusa il ritardo, la metro è stata un disastro oggi.
  • Luca: Ciao Matteo! Non preoccuparti, anch’io ho avuto problemi. Cos’è successo?

  • Matteo: Una folla incredibile! Ad ogni fermata salivano sempre più persone. Ero schiacciato come una sardina. Questo è il problema più grande: quando c’è un ritardo, tutti i treni successivi sono troppo pieni.
  • Luca: È vero. Poi in stazione c’era caos?
  • Matteo: Sì, molta gente in attesa e poca informazione. Alcuni hanno deciso di prendere l’autobus, ma anche quelli erano pieni. È stata una mattinata difficile.
  • Luca: Mi dispiace. Questi guasti tecnici sembrano sempre capitare quando sei di fretta. Sei arrivato in orario al lavoro?
  • Matteo: No, con quaranta minuti di ritardo. Per fortuna il mio capo ha capito. Lui è arrivato in auto e c’era tanto traffico, quindi anche lui era in ritardo!
  • Luca: Almeno c’è un lato positivo! La prossima volta forse dobbiamo usare la bicicletta.
  • Matteo: Non è una cattiva idea, almeno quando non piove. Vuoi prendere un caffè per recuperare dalla mattinata stressante?
  • Luca: Volentieri! Andiamo al bar qui vicino. Raccontami tutto meglio.

English Translation:

  • Matteo: Hi Luca! Sorry I’m late, the metro was a disaster today.
  • Luca: Hi Matteo! Don’t worry, I had problems too. What happened?
  • Matteo: Today there was a delay on the red line due to a technical fault. I was stuck in the tunnel for twenty minutes!
  • Luca: How annoying! The yellow line also had problems, but just a small hiccup. What was the fault?
  • Matteo: I don’t know exactly. From the loudspeaker announcement, it seemed like a signalling problem. Everyone in the carriage was very nervous.
  • Luca: That’s normal. When the metro stops, the air gets heavy and people get agitated. Did you feel hot?
  • Matteo: Yes, very hot! After ten minutes they turned off the air conditioning. It was unbearable.
  • Luca: It happens sometimes. And afterwards, when the train started again, was it very crowded?
  • Matteo: Incredibly crowded! At every stop, more and more people got on. I was squashed like a sardine. That’s the biggest problem: when there’s a delay, all the following trains are too full.
  • Luca: True. Was it chaotic in the station?
  • Matteo: Yes, lots of people waiting and little information. Some decided to take the bus, but those were full too. It was a difficult morning.
  • Luca: I’m sorry. These technical faults always seem to happen when you’re in a hurry. Did you get to work on time?
  • Matteo: No, forty minutes late. Luckily my boss understood. He came by car and there was a lot of traffic, so he was late too!

  • Matteo: Not a bad idea, at least when it’s not raining. Do you want to get a coffee to recover from the stressful morning?
