The present subjunctive expresses a possibility depending on a verb in the present or future tense:
- Spero che tu legga questo libro.
- I hope you read this book.
- Penserà che tu sia arrabbiata.
- He’ll think you’re angry.
1. Form of the present subjunctive

The persons of the singular (io, tu, lui/lei) have the same form. therefore, to distinguish them, it may be necessary to use the corresponding subject pronoun.
Verbs of the first conjugation ending in -car and in -gare use h before the ending of the present subjunctive, to keep the hard “hard” sound of c and g:

Verbs of the first conjugation ending in -iare have only one (i) in the conjugation of the present subjunctive, however, some verbs like sciare (to ski), have two i: scii

The verbs of the second conjugation ending in -cere, -gere, and –scere change the sound of c and g, which becomes “hard” when it is followed by -a in the three persons singular and in the third person plural.
