They indicate when or in what sequence an action takes place:

  • Scorso (Last)
  • Tardi – in ritardo (Late)
  • Recentemente – Ultimamente (Lately)
  • Più tardi – in seguito [Later (on)]
  • Prossimo – successive (Next)
  • Poi – dopo – in seguito (Next)
  • Da allora (Since then)
  • Prima o poi – presto o tardi (Sooner or later)
  • Fino a – sino a (Untill/Till)
  • Precedentemente – in precedenza (Previously)
  • Recentemente (Recently)
  • A breve termine (In The short term)
  • Presto – tra poco – fra poco (Shortly- Soon)

They indicate the current moment or actions in progress:

  • Adesso – ora (Now)
  • Attualmente (At present)
  • Subito – tra poco (Presently)
  • Subito – immediatamente (Right away)
  • In questo momento (In this moment)
  • Al momento (At the moment)

They indicate repetition, frequency or duration:

  • A volte – occasionalmente (Occesionally)
  • Spesso – sovente (Often)
  • Di quando in quando (On and off)
  • Ancora (Yet- Still)
  • Non ancora (Not yet)
  • Sempre (Always)
  • Di solito – usualmente (Usually)
  • Mentre – invece (While)
  • Mentre – intanto (Meantime/Meanwhile)

They indicate the succession or the following moment:

  • Poi – dopo – in seguito (next)
  • Poi – allora (Then)
  • Intanto – nel fratempo (In the meantime/Meanwhile)
  • All’improvviso – di colpo (Suddenly)
  • Diversi – parecchi (Several)
  • Tanti – vari – diversi (Many)
  • Solo – solamente (Only)
  • Fino a – sino a (until)
  • Abreve termine (in the short term)
